- SUSE AI: A Foundation for Innovation
- From Linux to Kubernetes – The Path to Cloud-Native SAP Infrastructure
- AI Innovations from FIS-ASP: Practical Use Cases in the SAP World
- SUSE & FIS-ASP – A Strong Partnership
- Conclusion
1. SUSE AI: A foundation for innovation
SUSE AI Platform, a fully integrated, cloud-native platform designed to support the secure and transparent development of AI applications. Emphasizing zero trust security and observability, SUSE enables deployment across any infrastructure—be it on-premises, public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud.
“The SUSE AI Platform is the foundation upon which the house is built”
Alan Clarke – SAP Alliance Director (EMEA North & ME)
This platform gives users and partners the freedom to choose their preferred AI models (LLMs). Built on open standards, it avoids vendor lock-in—an essential feature in today’s rapidly evolving AI landscape.
2. From Linux to Kubernetes
Alan Clarke also addressed the ongoing shift from traditional Linux environments toward Kubernetes-based cloud-native architectures. The Slide vividly illustrated how companies can run existing SAP systems (e.g., SAP S/4HANA) securely and efficiently with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and SUSE Rancher.
This approach helps organizations protect their current investments while benefiting from:
a 100% open-source infrastructure stack,
greater agility in SAP environments, and
scalability for future business growth.
3. AI innovations from FIS-ASP
3.1. ContextualAI Assistant – Turning corporate knowledge into a service
With the ContextualAI Assistant, FIS-ASP harnesses the power of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to connect a language model directly to internal knowledge from ticketing systems, Confluence, and Jira. The in-house developed embedding model FISMWASP enables accurate semantic classification of technical content in German. A multi-stage retrieval process ensures that the relevant content is provided as context—without the need for extensive model training.
3.2. 2. Visual Search – Image-Based Product Matching in Construction Retail
Another highlight was the Visual Search solution, allowing users to identify products (e.g., tiles) in a webshop based on a photo. Using a BEIT model (Bidirectional Encoder Image Transformer), product images are embedded in a vector space. By calculating cosine similarity, the system can determine which products visually match the input image—an impressive innovation for e-commerce in technical markets.
“We love the flexibility while working and developing AI-Solutions with SUSE AI”
Stefan Mühl, AI Infrastructure Consultant at FIS-ASP
4. SUSE & FIS-ASP – A Strong Partnership
SUSE and FIS-ASP maintain a close and collaborative partnership. Their shared philosophy:
“We don’t develop what we think is right—we develop what our partners need.”
Thanks to continuous feedback loops and co-innovation, they build solutions that are practical, secure, and future-ready. Their collaboration is also documented in the official SUSE success story with FIS.
5. Conclusion
The second SUSE SAP Navigator Session clearly demonstrated how modern open-source infrastructure effectively accompanies and supports innovative AI applications. From intelligent document handling to AI-powered product search, the solutions presented by FIS-ASP highlight the real-world potential of the SUSE AI Platform.
With its open, flexible, and security-focused approach, SUSE is well-positioned to shape digital transformation in the SAP ecosystem—together with strong partners like FIS-ASP.
