HP Helps FIS-ASP Deliver Reliable SAP Services to Small and Medium Businesses

News Release

Secure unified HP Converged Cloud solution  boosts agility, speed, flexibility for SMBs

GRAFENRHEINFELD, Germany, January 10th 2013 — HP announced today that application hosting and outsourcing services provider FIS-ASP is delivering reliable, cost-effective SAP services for small and medium businesses with an HP Converged Cloud solution.

Based on HP CloudSystem and HP Cloud Service Automation software, the new HP cloud platform has enabled FIS-ASP to grow its business by offering rapid implementation of smaller SAP installations.

“To attract new customers, we needed to ensure maximum reliability from our IT platform,” says Robert Schuhmann, Managing Director, FIS-ASP GmbH. “No other vendor could match the breadth of solutions and services offered by HP. Not only does the high availability HP cloud solution enable us to react faster to our customers’ demands for reliable, on-demand SAP services, but it also saves costs.”

Designed by HP Partner Comline AG, the new platform enables FIS-ASP to deliver secure, unified cloud solutions that help SMBs gain agility, speed and flexibility. HP Cloud Maps accelerate the automation of SAP systems for simple push-button deployment, enabling FIS-ASP to provision infrastructure and applications in minutes. 24x7x365 support by HP Mission Critical Services ensures that the infrastructure delivers 99.95 percent uptime.

As part of HP CloudSystem, HP Cloud Service Automation (CSA) enables the provisioning of complex infrastructure and applications in minutes. CSA increases Easynet’s IT agility by allowing the company to add capabilities via a self-service portal which provides a single view of all cloud services for one-stop ordering, provisioning and reporting. The ability to implement a chargeback model helps reduce Easynet’s total cost of ownership.

The new HP CloudSystem infrastructure, which supports more than 5,000 users, is based on six HP ProLiant BladeSystem C7000 enclosures with a mix of HP ProLiant server blade clusters. To ensure business continuity, HP Data Protector delivers advanced backup and recovery capabilities to all data across FIS-ASP’s IT environment.

HP Virtual Connect links servers and virtual machines to an HP storage area network (SAN) without extra mezzanine cards or software licences. Three HP 3PAR StoreServ V400 Storage systems with 280TB capacity ensure the highest levels of data availability and eliminate bottlenecks which might slow applications. Tiered storage ensures that the most active data is always rapidly accessible, while HP 3PAR StoreServ Thin Provisioning software controls costs by enabling FIS-ASP to purchase only the disk capacity they need, as they need it. HP 3PAR StoreServ Virtual Copy software delivers instant point-in-time snapshots for rapid application recovery. The whole centrally managed storage environment is flexible and scalable, giving FIS-ASP the ability to change and expand its data storage provisioning without pre-planning or downtime.

As part of its HP Converged Infrastructure, FIS-ASP also replaced its Cisco backbone with 24 HP 5800 Series Switches. Based on open standards, these advanced intelligent switches integrate easily into the existing network to provide the bandwidth necessary for secure, high-speed communications.

“SMBs need help to unleash the power of the cloud,” says Klaus Berle, manager, cloud competence centre, HP EMEA. “HP Converged Cloud extends the power of the cloud across applications, infrastructure and information, enabling FIS-ASP to accelerate innovation and enhance agility for SMBs running SAP.”
